About this event
Founded in 1987 to teach the Medieval and Renaissance eras through entertainment, the Alabama Renaissance Faire is the state's official Renaissance Faire, a title the Alabama House of Representatives gave the Florence event. It fills the one-block, handicap-accessible Wilson Park, also called Fountaine-on-the-Green, in downtown Florence, a city named for Florence, Italy. More than 80 artisans show crafts beside games, performers, lectures, and contests from sonnets to chess. Costumes are admired, not required, and park vendors do not serve alcohol.
Our take: Go Saturday for the longer 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. artisan day, and use the Tombigbee and Pine parking deck rather than the Post Office lot.
Parking
Street parking and metered spots downtown; parking deck at Tombigbee and Pine. Do not park in the U.S. Post Office lot or towaway zones. Pets on a leash; weapons peace-tied.
Good to know
Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday noon to 6 p.m. Vendors do not serve alcohol.
