About this event
When the United States purchased Alaska from Russia, the transfer ceremony took place in 1867 on Castle Hill in Sitka. The festival remembers that moment with a reenactment of the ceremony, a period costume ball, dances, dinners, contests, and a parade. Watch the reenactment on Castle Hill before the parade.
