About this event
The South Carolina State Fair fills the fairgrounds on Rosewood Drive in Columbia for 11 days, sponsored by the State Agricultural and Mechanical Society of South Carolina, which has held a state fair almost every year since just after the Civil War. Pay-One-Price ride days run every day of the fair, with unlimited rides on a wristband. The South Carolina Grown Marketplace in the Rosewoods Building gathers artisans, farmers and small businesses whose goods are made, grown or sewn in the state. Parking proceeds help fund the fair's Ride of Your Life scholarships for South Carolina students.
Our take: For a calmer visit, Sensory Friendly Morning on the second Thursday runs 10 a.m. to noon with lowered lights, quieter sounds and select kiddie rides without music or flashing lights.
Parking
Parking in the Lexington Health Fair Park is $10 per vehicle through Gates 6, 7 and 10, paid by credit or debit card or Apple Pay only.
Good to know
Admission hours vary by day, generally 11 a.m.–9 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m.–9 p.m. on Saturdays; the opening Thursday starts at noon and the final Sunday closes at 8 p.m. From Sunday through Thursday after 5 p.m., anyone under 18 must be with a parent 21 or older, and a clear bag policy applies.
