About this event
The Piedmont Interstate Fair Association formed in 1945, and the first fair at the present Spartanburg site was held in 1946, backed by memberships sold across Polk and Rutherford counties in North Carolina and Spartanburg, Cherokee, Union, and Laurens counties in South Carolina. A 2017 agreement with the City of Spartanburg kept the fair on that property. Fair week still centers on agriculture: cattle barns, a live beehive, an Agriculture Building of farm products and food arts, youth goat, beef, and poultry shows, a Junior Rabbit Show, an art department, and the House of Flowers. A traditional carnival sits beside those halls.

Parking
Private property. Weapons are not allowed, including for concealed-carry permit holders. Bags, strollers, and persons may be searched. Spartanburg police, sheriff's deputies, and Spartanburg Medical Center EMTs are on site.
