RISE of the Jack O'Lanterns

RISE of the Jack O'Lanterns calls itself Long Island's most visited fall event and home of what it calls the World's Longest Jack O'Lantern Trail, held at Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts in Melville with the entrance at 185 Colonial Springs Road in Wheatley Heights. The trail is stocked with over 10,000 illuminated objects, including 7,000 hand-carved jack-o'-lanterns and 3,000 specialty lanterns, plus a 12-foot disco-mirror Skelly, the Bone Throne photo stop, and zombie pigs named Shaquille O'Squeal and Kevin Bacon. Prizewinner pumpkins over 100 pounds from Pennsylvania and New York are carved on site, and singing jacks reach about 25 feet. An Enhanced upgrade adds a ghostwalk maze, a 3D glasses effect, and a key that triggers lights and animatronics. Tickets are not sold at the door.

Our take: Send GPS to 185 Colonial Springs Road in Wheatley Heights, and buy a timed ticket early because nothing is sold at the door.
