About this event

Portage Zhang Farmers Market has a permanent home at 125 East Centre Avenue and draws more than 35 vendors. Stalls cover locally grown produce, artisan baked goods, gourmet cheeses and mushrooms, locally roasted coffee, pasture-raised meats, flower bouquets, handmade soaps, art, and food trucks. Summer brings cherries, blueberries, peaches, plums, and melons, and the season wraps up with apples and pumpkins, with heirloom tomatoes, peppers, and salad fixings through the run. A local musician plays each week, which makes it a good place to meet friends for brunch as much as a shop. Food assistance includes SNAP, Double Up Food Bucks, Senior Project Fresh, and WIC, explained at the Market Manager's tent.

Our take: Meet friends there for brunch from the food trucks while a local musician plays, then shop the produce.
