About this event
Autumn Glory Festival is a five-day celebration of autumn built around the fall foliage of Garrett County and Oakland. The Mountain Maryland Gateway to the West Heritage Area, a program of the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce, offers a Turkey Trail of area turkey dinners, plus Fall Foliage Driving Tours at the southern and northern ends of the county. The Town of Oakland and the Greater Oakland Business Association host the Grand Feature Parade and the Maryland State Banjo, Mandolin and Fiddle Championships. The parade runs from Omar Street along 2nd Street and Alder Street to 3rd Street near Fox's Pizza Den. Concessions are on Green Street across from Naylor's Hardware.
Our take: Pair the parade with a turkey dinner on the Turkey Trail, and leave time for a foliage drive that starts at the Garrett County Visitors Center in McHenry.
Good to know
Parade begins at 1 pm. The short foliage driving tour is about 55 minutes and 26 miles.
