About this event
Festival of the Bonfires is billed as a Christmas festival, Cajun style, and a tradition unique to St. James Parish. The weekend at Lutcher Recreational Park, 2545 Louisiana Avenue in Lutcher, stacks great food, live entertainment, crafts, Santa's Very Merry Forest, and carnival rides. One bonfire is lit on the levee on Friday, with a bus shuttle, and another is lit on the festival grounds on Saturday with a firework show. The wider program also lists a cook-off, teen and children's pageants, a car show, and a Merry Forest art contest.
Our take: Use the shuttle for the Friday levee bonfire, then stay on the festival grounds Saturday for the bonfire and fireworks together.
