About this event

The Georgia Museum of Agriculture at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College holds its cane grinding and syrup-making day in the museum's Historic Village, which ABAC has described as one of the few places where visitors can see a mule-powered mill grinding sugar cane and a wood-fired kettle used to cook cane syrup. In 2024 the day featured costumed docents explaining the process, blacksmithing demonstrations, yarn doll and grapevine wreath-making, wood-burning stove cooking and mule plowing, with the steam-powered cotton gin and sawmill in operation. The museum is at 1392 Whiddon Mill Road off I-75 Exit 63B, and tickets are sold at the Country Store.

Good to know

Regular museum Saturday hours are 9am–4pm. The Vulcan Steam Train is currently unavailable to ride.
