The Red Shoe Drop is Key West's flamboyant answer to the New Year's countdown: as midnight approaches, a local drag queen descends in a giant, glittering red high heel from the balcony of the Bourbon St. Pub on Duval Street. The event draws thousands to the street each year and is broadcast live to audiences around the world, with dazzling costumes and street performances building up to midnight.
