American German Club 52nd Annual Oktoberfest

Where German and American cultures meet is the line the American German Club uses for its Oktoberfest at 5111 Lantana Road in Lake Worth. Two weekends split between the clubhouse and an outdoor pavilion and tent, rain or shine. A band from Germany plays the pavilion, while German tunes and sing-alongs fill the clubhouse. Bier is imported from Germany, with schnitzel, roasted chicken, sauerbraten, bratwurst, and pretzels beside burgers and hot dogs. Masskrugstemmen, Volkstanzgruppe folk dances, a keg tapping, and a Parade of Flags of German states fill the entertainment, and a Bierkonigin poses for photos. A gift shop stocks steins and cuckoo clocks, and a Tracht shop sells dirndls and lederhosen, with carnival rides and a playground nearby.

Our take: Bring an empty stein for the imported bier, and use the school shuttle if on-site space at the club and Buttonwood Park is gone.
