About this event
The Desert Empire Fair brings a weekend of carnival rides, exhibits, junior livestock and fall fun to the fairgrounds in Ridgecrest. The fair grew from Chamber of Commerce beginnings under a wind-battered big top into a community fair backed by the whole Indian Wells Valley. The Ridgecrest Rodeo takes over the arena on Saturday, and a demolition derby closes the fair on Sunday.
Our take: Come Sunday afternoon if you're on a budget: kids 12 and under get in for $5 from 2 to 5 p.m., and active-duty military are free with ID.
Parking
Desert Empire Fairgrounds, 520 S. Richmond Road, Ridgecrest.
Good to know
Friday 4–11 p.m.; Saturday 2–11 p.m.; Sunday 2–10 p.m.; the carnival may stay open later. No outside food or drinks except water, no coolers, no pets except service animals, no smoking or vaping.
