About this event
The Greater Gulf State Fair began in 1955 under Mobile’s Junior Chamber of Commerce (now the Mobile Jaycees) and has called The Grounds—purchased in 1975 at Cody Road and Zeigler Boulevard—home ever since. The ten-day run turns the property into a self-contained midway city with rides, restaurants, entertainment stages, and a rodeo, drawing more than 100,000 visitors. Indoor facilities span over two acres under roof, including the Hocklander building. Check fair hours before you go; weeknight doors often open later than weekend noon starts.
Our take: Fall Market in the Park also runs in Mobile through mid-November, so you can mix a quieter craft morning with a louder fair evening.
